Smoke City was a music band from London . The style of the band was strongly influenced by Brazilian music and modern directions of electronic music such as trip-hop and acid jazz .

Members of the group were Chris Franck from Germany ( guitar , keyboard , percussion , bass , vocals , special effects ), Mark Brown (programming, turntables , keyboard, percussion, vocals, special effects) and singer Nina Miranda .

Career

Smoke City released their first CD Flying Away in 1997, which included a worldwide hit with Underwater Love . The song achieved great fame as music for a commercial for the jeans brand Levi's . With Mr. Gorgeous (and Miss Curvaceous) and Joga Bossa (Aguas de Março) further single releases were successful.

The second album Heroes of Nature was released in 2001 and could not build on the success of the debut album.

After an entry on the Myspace page of Miranda's and Franck's successor band ZEEP , Smoke City was dissolved in 2002 due to excessive expectations on the part of the record company. The first album of the same name by ZEEP was released in 2007, followed by Peoples & Things in 2009 .
