Use in film
So Close is played at the costume ball. Giselle and Robert dance to it. Soon they are in the middle of the dance floor, the other couples are lined up on the edge and form a frame around the two. The song reflects that (“So far we are so close”, German “So far we are already pretty close”). But then Nancy comes and takes over the dance. Giselle is escorted off the dance floor by Prince Edward. He notices her sadness. When he fetches her cloak, she watches with tears in her eyes as Nancy and Robert kiss ( So close and still so far or So close and yet so far ).
