Societas pro Fauna et Flora Fennica

The Societas pro Fauna et Flora Fennica is the oldest scientific society in Finland. It was founded in 1821 . Its seat was initially in Turku , under the direction of Carl Reinhold Sahlberg . In 1829 she was moved to Helsinki . The Zoological and Botanical Society promotes knowledge of Finnish flora and fauna through meetings, excursions and symposiums. Every year the society awards grants to support research activities. The Society's publications include the scientific journal Memoranda Societatis pro Fauna et Flora Fennica .
