Society for Analytical Chemistry

The Society for Analytical Chemistry was founded in London in 1874 as an association for chemists practicing in analytical chemistry (Society for Public Analysts). In the context of the rapid expansion of the chemical industry, it served to ensure the qualification of chemical examinations after the parliament had previously passed a corresponding law. In 1980 she joined other chemical societies in Great Britain in the Royal Society of Chemistry .

She published the journals The Analyst (from 1876), from the 1950s Analytical Abstracts (both continued by the Royal Society of Chemistry) and from 1964 to 1974 the Proceedings of the Society for Analytical Chemistry . From 1966 she also awarded a gold medal.
