Sofamelker
Sofamelker is a slang term for a farmer who has given up his own milk production and has leased , leased or sold the milk quota allowed by the EU .
This was expressed in 1984 due to the EU - quota system , which allowed the dairy farmers only a certain maximum quota of their milk production. It was only with the liberalization of the milk quota trade and controversial agricultural policy discussions in the 1990s that the term “sofamaker” became popular. The term Sofamelker was included in the Duden dictionary in 1999 and at the same time found its way into literature with the publication of Hermann-Josef Schüren's Death of a Sofamelker .
