Hermann-Josef Schüren

Hermann-Josef Schüren (* 1954 in Kerken , pseudonym Rainer Schalk ) is a German writer.

Stoke studied after the Abitur at the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck German and philosophy in Aachen and received his doctorate there in 1988 in philosophy. His work includes books for children and young people (mostly under the pseudonym Rainer Schalk), crime thrillers and historical novels, as well as some illustrated books , for which he wrote the accompanying texts. Schüren was the recipient of a sponsorship award from the city of Aachen and a literature grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . He lives as a writer in Aachen, teaching German and philosophy at the Couven Gymnasium.

In November 2016, Schüren received the Lower Rhine Literature Prize of the City of Krefeld endowed with 10,000 euros .
