The Aeropuerto Internacional de Punta Cana ( IATA : PUJ , ICAO : MDPC ) is an international airport in Punta Cana in the east of the Dominican Republic . With two runways and around 7.3 million passengers in 2017, it is the largest airport in the country and one of the most important in the Caribbean .

Terminals

The airport has three terminals . Terminal 1 and 2 are used for handling international arrivals and departures, Terminal 3 is used exclusively for regional flights. The buildings are built in the traditional Dominican style with palm roofs made from real Dominican palm trees . The 33,000 square meter site has more than 50 check-in counters, 16 boarding gates, VIP and smoking rooms and children's play areas.

From German-speaking countries, Punta Cana is served by Eurowings from Cologne / Bonn & Düsseldorf Airport , Condor from Frankfurt am Main , Munich and Vienna , Tuifly from Hamburg and Edelweiss Air from Zurich - sometimes only seasonally .

In addition to regional flights such as to Aruba or Curaçao , Punta Cana is also connected to numerous international flight destinations, especially in North and South America and Europe, including Buenos Aires , Atlanta and London, due to its importance as a holiday destination .
