Software Atlas Germany
The Software Atlas Germany is the result of a study that has been published annually by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) since 2010 . The study was commissioned by Software AG and Software-Cluster .
The aim of the software atlas is to analyze the situation and development of the software and IT service industry on a regional level in Germany in more detail. For this purpose, the development of various indicators such as employment and turnover shares as well as concentration are regularly analyzed in multi-year comparisons. In addition, a new focus topic is highlighted every year.
content

Top 25 locations in Germany 2011
The rank is based on the relative concentration of the IT industry in the NUT2 regions. Some megacities such as Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg also have a large number of IT companies, but measured against the overall size of the region, their share is so small that they no longer appear in the top 25.

The front runner among the top software locations is the Rhein-Neckar district with an employment share of 10.75 percent.
