Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh ( Persian سهراب بختیاری‌زاده; Born September 11, 1972 in Nurabad ) is an Iranian soccer player .

Bakhtiarizadeh comes from the province of Khusistan, where he played until 1999 for the first division club Foolad Ahvaz . Then the defender moved to the capital club Esteghlal Tehran , which was cup winner and championship runner-up that year.

A trip to the Turkish first division club Erzurumspor the following year ended with a hasty return after the latter had turned out to be an insolvent relegation candidate.

Another year at Esteghlal, which, in addition to another cup win and runner-up, also brought third place in the Asian Cup, was followed by a mixed year in which not only the club but also he disappointed. And so he left Tehran again for Ahvaz, who were then able to repeat their best championship result in the club's history with third place.

In 2004 he moved to the first division promoted Saba Battery Tehran and won the Iranian Cup ( Hazfi Cup ) and the league cup with the team in the first year . In the following year he led the team as captain to fourth place in the championship. In spite of his defensive position in standard situations, he developed into a dangerous player.

Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh was also recommended for the Iranian national team during his early days at Foolad . In October 1997 he made his debut in World Cup qualification. This was followed by a varied national team career and after a three-year break he returned to the team in the run-up to the 2006 World Cup in Germany. As one of the most experienced players in Iran's World Cup squad , he even scored one of the two World Cup goals in his country in his two appearances. Shortly after the World Cup he announced his retirement from the national team at the age of 34.
