The Hazfi Cup , better known as Jam Hazfi ( Persian جام حذفی, DMG Ǧām-i ḥaẕfī ), is the Iranian soccer cup competition. It has been played annually since 1976. In the years 1978 to 1985 the Cup was not held because of the Islamic Revolution , nor did it take place in 1992, 1993 and 1998.

mode

Over the years, the mode of the cup competition has changed several times between individual games and a home and return system. From the 2005/2006 season, one game should be played per round, as well as a final on neutral ground. In the first season, this rule was used to switch back to a final with a return leg at short notice, as the authorities of the first final venue, Mashhad, refused to host the cup final. Since the 2011/2012 season, the final has again been decided in a typical final. In addition, the lower-class clubs will now meet first, before the teams of the Azadegan League and the Iran Pro League in the fifth round (round of 32) . All encounters are decided in one game.

The competition has grown in importance since the winner was given a place in the AFC Champions League .
