The Malaysia FA Cup ( Malay : Piala FA from sponsors reason, shopee Piala FA is called) one since 1990 been registered football - cup competition for Malaysian club teams . Until 2015 it was organized annually by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), since 2016 the Malaysian Football League (MFL) has taken over. After the championship, the cup is the second most important title in national club football.
The winner of the FA Cup is determined according to the knockout system . The first three main rounds and the final are each played in one game, the quarter-finals and the semi-finals take place with a return leg . If there is a tie after the normal playing time, there will be extra time and possibly a penalty shoot-out . The away goals rule also applies to rounds with two games .
Record winners are Selangor FA and Kedah FA with five titles each. The current title holder is Kedah FA, who won the final of the 2019 cup round (30th edition) on July 27, 2019 against Perak FA with a 1-0 win after extra time.
