Kelantan FA is a football team from Kota Bharu , Malaysia established by the Kelantan State Football Association and represents both the state and the association. The team currently plays in the country's second division, the Malaysia Premier League .
Club history
In 2000, Kelantan FA championship in the 2nd division and went straight to the 1st division. After a surprising 3rd place in the following year, they only managed 11th place in the 2002 season. In 2003 they failed to qualify for the new 1st division and were relegated, in the meantime even up to the 3rd division. It was not until 2007/08 that they were promoted to the first division. They did not lose a single home game during the season and enjoyed a large audience. The greatest success of the club is reaching the FA Cup final in 2009.
After two incidents of fan violence, on March 31 and April 7, 2009, the National Association imposed a one-year stadium ban. In addition, Kelantan had to pay a fine of 90,000 RM . At the end of May 2009, however, the stadium ban was lifted again.
