SolarAid

SolarAid is a British development aid organization based in London and was founded in 2006 by Solarcentury .

The organization aims to promote the spread of solar energy in developing countries in order to curb global poverty and climate change . To achieve this, photovoltaic systems have been and are being installed on meetinghouses, clinics and schools. Locals are also trained to build and repair solar systems.

The first project was carried out in Malawi together with the Solarcentury company.

The actress Cate Blanchett has been a patron since 2007 .

On November 29, 2013, the organization was awarded the European Solar Prize 2013 in the “One World Cooperation” category.
