The Magdeburg solar park is an open-space photovoltaic system in Magdeburg, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt, in the Herrenkrug district north of the B1 .
description
The facility was built on the site of a former garbage dump on Cracauer Anger . The mountain of rubbish that had accumulated until 1998 is about 52 meters high and required certain measures to be taken during construction. In addition, there is a functioning gas network directly underneath, which meant that the racks were only allowed to penetrate a maximum of half a meter into the ground. The construction time was a total of five months. It was completed in December 2011 and opened in January 2012.
About 37,600 photovoltaic modules with a total area of 145,000 m² produce electrical energy with a nominal output of 8.5 MW peak on the 15 hectare area . This is fed into the medium-voltage network via a 30 kV line and is sufficient to supply over 11,000 households.
