history

In 1908 W. Schaufelberger founded Solis AG for the production and sale of his heating pad . In the following years the production range was expanded, and in 1933 the production of the first hair dryer began in Zurich .

Following an appeal by the Federal Council , Solis moved its production to the economically weakened canton of Ticino in 1943 , where it is still located today. In the 1950s Solis became internationally active and was particularly successful with hair dryers in the USA and later in Japan.

When the first filter coffee machine was presented in Germany, Solis took over sales for Switzerland, the Wigomat 120 RS was sold as the Solis matic RS 120 . In 1985, the company launched the world's first fully automatic espresso machine, together with Saeco , for the household. In 1993 the Centro Solis production and service center was opened in Mendrisio .
