Solomon Anthony James Musa (* 1966 - January 1999 ) was one of the leaders during the civil war in Sierra Leone . In April 1992 Musa came to Freetown with Valentine Strasser and around 100 soldiers to demonstrate against the poor conditions in the Sierra Leone Army . The demonstration ended in a military coup and the overthrow of President Joseph Saidu Momoh .

During Strasser's rule, Musa played the role of his closest adviser. In November 1992 he was responsible for the execution of numerous high-ranking military officials who reaffirmed their support for Joseph S. Momoh and planned the alleged overthrow of Strasser (although they had been imprisoned since May of the same year). From late 1992 to mid-1993, Musa was chairman of the Council of State Secretaries . Musa fled Sierra Leone after Strasser was overthrown by Julius Maada Bio . After Johnny Paul Koroma overthrew President-elect Ahmad Tejan Kabbah years later , Musa returned to Sierra Leone and became chairman of Kono District . He continued to have great influence on the government and the military.

On November 15, 1998, Musa and some supporters kidnapped the Italian missionary Father Mario Guerra. He demanded medicine and a connection with his wife Tina, who had been imprisoned since September. In late December 1998, Musa was seriously injured by an explosion in an ammunition dump and died a month later.
