Somabhula

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Somabhula is a city in the Midlands Province in Zimbabwe .

It is located in the Great Dyke area south of Gweru . With just under 10,000 inhabitants, it is relatively small. The nearby Gweru offers better conditions for living and working.

The city lives from mining; to promote gold and diamonds . It is also in difficult terrain at the junction of the railway line to Maputo from the Bulawayo - Harare line . Somabhula is therefore primarily of importance for traffic. Roads and railways run along the narrow ridge.

In close proximity to Somabhula are the ruins of Nalatale , which date from the same era as Great Zimbabwe . There are also some well-preserved rock carvings from prehistoric times.
