Somatopause

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The somatopause is a phase of life in which the hormone somatotropin is no longer sufficiently formed and released in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland . It occurs in middle-aged people, mostly from the third to sixth decade of life, parallel to menopause or andropause .

This reduces the anabolic effect of somatotropin, especially the strengthening and maintaining effect on tendons , connective tissue and muscles .
