from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Thusocoel (Germanized spelling also Henceozöl ) is the cavity inside a somite . It is surrounded by an epithelium and contains loosely arranged mesenchymal cells inside . Transplantation studies suggest that the cells of the Thusocoel mainly develop the joint-forming parts of the vertebrae and the skeletal muscles that move them . In addition, blood vessel precursor cells ( angioblasts ) develop from them .
