Horressen special ammunition depot

The Horressen special ammunition depot (NATO Site 31) was located in the forest area west of Montabaur , 4 km from the Westerwald barracks . Nuclear warheads for sergeant and lancer missiles for the 350 missile artillery battalion were stored here . The ammunition was under the 83rd US Army Missile Detachment. The camp was guarded by the soldiers of the watch and escort battery of the rocket artillery battalion 350. The special ammunition depot existed from 1969 to 1981.

Today the bunkers and other buildings are used by the art and culture center "B-05".
