The Sonic Lake is a crescent-shaped and permanently frozen lake in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In the Framnes Mountains it lies in a large indentation in the southwest corner of the North Masson Range .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the noise, with the ice when entering the lake during an investigation like a sonic boom ( English sonic boom broke).
