Sun Ruler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sun rulers named the remains of a Saken warrior and ruler, as his entire torso was covered in gold.

The grave was discovered in a complex with a total of seven burial mounds in the Kazakh region of Qaraghandy, east of the capital Nur-Sultan (Astana until 2019) . The grave had been discovered around 1960. The excavations did not start until 2009, however. The warrior was buried in the fourth or fifth century BC. 130 gold objects were found in the burial mounds, including the figure of a big cat, a pendant, parts of sword belts and hundreds of gold balls. There were also 14 bronze arrowheads in the grave.
