The Sonus Brass Ensemble was founded in 1994 and is a classical brass quintet. The ensemble operates throughout Europe and beyond (USA, also Asia). With two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba, this ensemble plays at numerous well-known festivals and concert halls as well as many smaller venues. This ensemble first became known for its very successful music education concerts, such as B. "Die Blecharbeiter" (2004) or Rocky Roccoco (2008) for which the ensemble received international awards. The ensemble comes from Vorarlberg in the western part of Austria. The ensemble is primarily dedicated to classical music, but also experiments in other musical genres. With appearances z. The two trumpeters Stefan Dünser and Michael Wachter founded the Sonus Brass Ensemble in 1994. The first teachers were Edward Tarr and Jean Pierre Mathez. The young brass quintet began to commission compositions in the first few years after it was founded. Some of the more than 25 premiered works can now be found in the classical brass repertoire. The ensemble completed numerous concert tours on behalf of Jeunesse Wien and subsequently expanded its field of activity to the whole of Europe. The Bregenz Festival , the Lucerne Festival , the Philharmonie Luxembourg , the Cologne Philharmonie , Jeunesse Konzerthaus Vienna and many more. are now permanent partners of the ensemble. At the beginning of 2002, the ensemble developed an excellent reputation as a music mediator throughout the German-speaking region. International awards followed as well as tours to the USA and Asia.
