Cyber shot
Cyber-shot is a product brand name under which the Japanese manufacturer Sony since 1996's compact - digital cameras markets. This differentiates the compact cameras from the system cameras (brand Alpha , since 2006) and camcorders (brand Handycam ) within the Sony product range .
For a short time (2008–2009) the Cyber-shot brand was also used by Sony Ericsson for combination devices consisting of mobile phones and digital cameras.
Many Cyber-shot models have an integrated lens from Carl Zeiss . Apart from the fact that they are all digital cameras without interchangeable lenses, there is little in common; The brand encompasses a wide range of designs / sizes, functions and other technical features for different user target groups. The range extends from simple miniature cameras (ultra-compact / sub- miniature cameras) to typical compact cameras and bridge cameras for the prosumer sector, some as super zoom cameras and with video functions.
Model series
All Cyber-shot cameras have the type designation DSC (abbreviation for Digital Still Camera ), followed by a letter abbreviation for the model series. Currently (as of mid-2013) the following series in particular are offered in stores:
- DSC-H and HX : Bridge cameras
- DSC-R and RX : compact cameras with image sensors and optical zoom of the upper class, extended functions
- DSC-W and WX : entry-level compact cameras, particularly light and small, easy to use
In the past, the DSC-D, F / FX, G, J, L, M, N, P, S / ST, T / TF / TX, U and V series were still in use.
The X denotes the "Exmor R" sensor, which Sony stands for backlit sensors.
