Sood
As Sood also Soot a is cistern on Warften referred to in which the collected rainwater from the roofs is passed. In the past, the sodes were lined with turf , later with wood or brickwork. Until 1970, rainwater from Sooden was the only possible drinking water supply for some terps on the Halligen .
On the mainland, Sood is the Low German word for a normal (non- artesian ) well .
