The Sophie Rocks are a small group of ledges on the Danco coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . On the Arctowski Peninsula , they are halfway between Spigot Peak and the Zeiss Needle and tower over Selvick Cove to the west and Orne Harbor to the east .

The American polar explorer Frederick Cook named such a rock formation in the course of the Belgica expedition (1897-1899) in 1898 , which in addition to the rocks described here also included Spigot Peak and the Zeiss Needle. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided on April 23, 1998 to exclude the latter two from this designation. The namesake is not known.
