Sorge Island is an island off the east coast of West Antarctic Adelaide Island . It is located immediately south of The Gullet in the Barlas Canal .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped them on the basis of measurements and aerial photographs from the years 1948 to 1959. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1960 after the German glaciologist Ernst Sorge (1899-1946).
