Soribada ( Korean 소리바다 'download sound' ) is the first South Korean peer-to-peer system. It started in 2000 and was known as the “Korean Napster ”. Soribada is the most widely used peer-to-peer system in South Korea.

Soribada was closed after a court order in 2002. Thereafter, the project was carried out on an experimental basis with the indication that Soribada assumes no liability for the content. After this attempt was successful, the portal was reopened on November 5, 2003.

Soribada turned into a commercial music platform in July 2006 . Soribada 5.0, now Soribada 6.0, is the third P2P service in the world that was able to successfully operate commercial offers at the same time as the P2P service. Members who pay the monthly fee of 7,000 won can download music without DRM copy protection. Like iTunes and other popular online music stores, Soribada uses audio fingerprint technology to identify the buyer. Soribada claims to offer around 90 percent of all songs published in South Korea. As of January 2008, Soribada is the largest service of its kind with around 700,000 paying members.
