Marian apparition

Alleged apparitions of Mary have been reported in Soufaniah since November 27, 1982 . The icon of the Nazzour family is said to be crying olive oil , and Myrna Nazzour is said to receive messages from Mary and Jesus Christ . The main theme is the unity between Christians of the West and the East and the call to Christians not to forget their often oppressed brothers in the East. While Myrna Nazzour is Greek Catholic , her husband is Greek Orthodox .

The home of the Nazzour family has become a place of worship for Mary, visited by both Christians and Muslims . During Holy Week 2004, the Mayor of Damascus came by. Until now, the pilgrimage to Soufanieh has not been banned or suppressed by the Syrian regime, even during the ban on assembly. The apparitions have not been recognized by the church, while the transcriptions from 1982 to 1987 have been approved for printing by the church .
