The partially disturbed basement of Claigan is located in the poorly preserved remains of Dun Breac, east of Claigan near Uig on the Scottish island of Skye . In the case of basements, a basic distinction is made between "rock-cut", "earth-cut", "stone built" and "mixed" basements.

Claigan basement

The basement consists of a 0.3 m below the surface running about 12 m long, narrow gallery running to the northeast. The further corridor is blocked. Beyond the blocked end is a round cavity with stone blocks visible above the earth. This could be the end chamber, but there are remnants of old houses in the neighborhood and these could be connected to it as well. The entrance is dilapidated and small and is about 0.7 m wide. The ceiling is made of stone slabs and the walls are made of coarse dry stone masonry (strone built).
