South Twin Island is an uninhabited island in James Bay east of Akimiski Island .
It has a mossy tundra and fewer trees than its neighboring island and is an important breeding ground for the Canada goose and the American ringed plover . The southern tip of South Twin Island is called Lucy Point .
The twice as large North Twin Island is about 10 km to the northwest. Both islands are combined as twin islands . They are part of the Qikiqtaaluk region in the Nunavut territory of Canada .
