South West Hertfordshire is a constituency of the British House of Commons in the county of Hertfordshire . The constituency was created in its current form in 1950 and covers much of Berkhamsted , Rickmansworth and Tring . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

In 1950 the constituency was created from the former Watford and Hemel Hempstead constituencies and has been represented by members of the Conservative Party since the 1950 general election. At that time Gilbert Longden won the seat and served until February 1974. In the general election in February 1974 , Geoffrey Dodsworth won the seat in parliament. He resigned as a member of parliament in 1979, which necessitated a by-election . This won Richard Page . Since the general election in 2005 represents David Gauke South West Hertfordshire in the House of Commons. Gauke has been a non-party candidate in parliament since September 2019 and also stood for the 2019 general election as an independent candidate.

In April 2013, the constituency had an unemployment rate of just 1.7%. This value was significantly lower than the national average of 3.8%.
