Socio-economic status

The socio-economic status (SoS) is a term from the social sciences and describes a bundle of characteristics of human living conditions. These include, for example:

  • formal education and graduation
  • education and study
  • Profession and Income
  • Ownership of cultural goods (often recorded through the possession of books)
  • cultural practice: visits to theaters and museums
  • Place of residence and ownership
  • Liquidity and creditworthiness

The socio-economic status (SoS) is the subject of numerous studies by social scientists. One example of this is the German socio-economic panel SOEP .
