The SpVg Laatzen (officially: Sportliche Vereinigung Laatzen von 1894 eV ) is a sports club from Laatzen in the Hanover region . The club was created in 1919 through the merger of the clubs Turnerbund Laatzen and Sportverein 1912 Laatzen . The first soccer team played in the 1947/48 season in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony. The first water polo team made it to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011 after many years in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Soccer
In 1947, the SpVg was one of the founding members of the Hanover State League, from which you had to be relegated promptly as the bottom of the table. In 1950 the Laatzener A-Jugend became Lower Saxony champions. After the young players moved up into the first team, they were promoted to the third-class amateur league 3 in 1953 . After several years in the middle of the table, relegation followed in 1959. Since then, the men of SpVg Laatzen only play at the district or district level.
Since relegation in 2009, the first men's team has played in the Hannover-Land district league . The later national player Heinz Krückeberg began his career in Laatzen in the 1930s. The first women's team of SpVg Laatzen played in the Lower Saxony League East in the early 2000s . The team is currently competing in the district league.
Water polo
The first men's team played in the 2nd Bundesliga North, before being promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011. With Marc Politze , the Laatzer water polo team produced a German national player. The B-youth became German runner-up in 1993.
