The SpVgg Preußen 05 Nordhausen was a sports club in the German Empire with its headquarters in what is now the Thuringian city of Nordhausen .

history

The club was founded in 1905, after the founding of the Kyffhäuser Gau, the club and its soccer team took part in the Central German soccer championship within the VMBV for the first time in the 1911/12 season. With 8: 4 points, the team was immediately Gaumeister, but was not allowed to participate in the finals this season. In the following season , the team ended up only in second place.

After the 1913/14 season , Prussia Nordhausen and SV Wacker Mars Nordhausen were tied on points with a score of 14: 2, but the better goal difference of Prussia Nordhausen was not included and there was a play-off. Wacker Mars won the playoff on March 22, 1914 5-1, but the deadline for the final round of the championship had already expired at this point, so there were no participants from the Gau. In July 1914, the game was also subsequently rated for Prussia Nordhausen , as Wacker Mars had used a player who was not authorized to play in this game. Wacker Mars protested against this decision and there was a second playoff on November 1, 1914. This second game was then won 3-2 by Prussia Nordhausen . After this game, Wacker Mars protested again, which the club then withdrew at the Gau committee meeting on January 30, 1915. On the same day, the request from Prussia Nordhausen was granted not to name a Gaumeister for this season.

In the 1914/15 season the game operation quickly came to a standstill due to the outbreak of the First World War. It is not known whether there was a game operation in the Kyffhäuser Gau before that. Due to the fact that it was second class, the final tables are not exactly transmitted in the following years, but it is known that Prussia Nordhausen did not achieve a championship title during this time. It was not until the 1923/24 season that the Gau was first class again, and that season the team came in second. After several seasons in which the team always missed the championship title, it finally succeeded after the 1928/29 season , with which the team was able to qualify for the final round of the championship for the first time. But then it was already over after a 4: 7 against SpVgg Erfurt in the first preliminary round. In the following seasons, however, the team did not take first place. After the National Socialists came to power , the team was grouped into the Gau Mitte, but for the first-class Gauliga Mitte , the club, like everyone else in the Gau, was not considered.
