The gap forceps is a special pliers , on the one hand for the splitting up of briquettes is used round design and on the other hand for the crushing of large tree trunks and other kind large wood portions, for example, root stocks.

Smaller versions are more likely to be found in private use. By dividing them into small slices, lighting the briquettes is made much easier. Larger versions are mainly found in forestry , primarily for the shredding of large tree trunks for the wood chipper. Thanks to an extremely large hydraulic cylinder , pressing forces of up to 60  tons and a splitting capacity of up to 30 tons are achieved on the two claws, which have a special shape for the optimal distribution of forces.
