Spanish March

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Spanish March is a march by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 433). The work was performed for the first time in a location that has not been passed down in 1888.

Remarks

The concert march originated in 1888 and was dedicated to the Spanish regent Maria Christina . She thanked the composer by awarding the composer the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabel , a prestigious Spanish distinction. The exact date and place of the premiere of the march are not known. It was played on October 21, 1888 by Eduard Strauss in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein . Since it was not the first performance, it must have taken place before this date sometime in 1888.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 46 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
