The Spanish bowline is a knot in which two eyes are tied in the middle of the rope.
Names and history
There is a single and a double Spanish bowline. Because you can put your legs in your eyes, it is also called a chair knot.
application
- The Spanish bowline is mostly only used as a decorative knot.
- The simple Spanish bowline used to be used in shipping as a double cockpit to distribute the load between two eyes, or to bring two loads together on one rope.
