The Sparkasse Engelberg AG was in Engelberg anchored and around 1879 founded Swiss regional bank .
Her area of activity was retail banking , mortgage lending and banking with small and medium-sized companies . Sparkasse Engelberg last employed nine people and at the end of 2009 had total assets of 159.1 million Swiss francs. It was affiliated to the RBA Holding as an independent regional bank .
The bank was founded in 1879 on the initiative of a religious group of men from the environment of the Benedictine monastery Engelberg. The banking activities were initially carried out from Engelberg Abbey before the bank moved into its own premises nearby in 1891. In 1965 the Sparkasse moved to its current location. In 2004 the bank , which had previously been organized in the form of a cooperative , was converted into a stock corporation. In 2013, Sparkasse Schwyz took over 100% of the share capital of Sparkasse Engelberg AG. 2014 Sparkasse Engelberg was finally on the parent company merged and became extinct so as an independent company. The united savings bank is thus the largest regional bank in Central Switzerland.
