The Sparkasse Mürzzuschlag AG is a banking company based in Mürzzuschlag and a member of the Cooperation and Joint Liability of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian Savings Banks Association .

history

On July 1, 1869, the Sparkasse opened its business in a small room in the so-called Engelhaus .

In 1878 the community acquired the old Elefanten Inn (today Stadtwerke), and the Sparkasse granted a loan on the condition that a room for the Sparkasse and an apartment for officials had to be set up in it.

Just two years later, the Sparkasse moved to the Laschitzhaus (now Fuchs) .

After the purchase of old houses in the center of the village failed, the decision was made to build their own house, which they moved into in July 1886. On March 15, 1945, several (American) bombs intended for the station hit the enlarged building of the Sparkasse and turned it into ruins.

The savings bank was badly affected and the archive was completely destroyed. By September 1945, some of the rooms had been repaired to the point where work could be done.

In 1981 the former district savings bank was converted into a community savings bank with the liability holder of the city of Mürzzuschlag.

In 2001 the resolution was passed to incorporate the business operations into a stock corporation. The shares are owned by the share management savings bank.
