Sparkasse Memmingen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sparkasse Memmingen was a city savings bank in Memmingen and one of the five oldest savings banks in Bavaria. It merged into the Sparkasse Memmingen-Lindau-Mindelheim .

history

In May 1823, the city magistrate and representatives of the city of Memmingen decided to set up a savings bank, which began operating a year later on May 1, 1824.

Due to the good experience in Memmingen, other savings banks were set up in the Memmingen area, such as those in Ottobeuren (1836) or Bad Grönenbach (1850). Both merged in 1933 to form the Kreissparkasse Memmingen-Ottobeuren.

On July 1, 1943, both city and country institutes merged to form the district and city savings bank Memmingen. This in turn later merged with the Sparkasse Memmingen-Lindau-Mindelheim .
