The storage buildings from the east

The storage buildings on West Quay are former storage buildings of the port facilities in the Scottish city of Port Glasgow in Inverclyde . In 1990 the structure was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category C.

description

The buildings are at the beginning of West Quays to the west of Port Glasgow. The exact year of construction is not recorded, so that only the 19th century can be given as the construction period. Probably in the first half of the century, three parallel, one-story buildings were built, and one floor was added in the second half of the century. The masonry consists of cut quarry stone . On the north side, facing the port facilities on the Firth of Clyde , there are three gate openings with round arches, which are now partially closed, or at least have been greatly changed. They were once equipped with two-winged, outward-opening gates. In the case of the two northern buildings, steel roof trusses resting on steel columns support the hip roofs . The smaller warehouse in the south, on the other hand, has a wooden roof. The roofs are covered with slate shingles.
