Barrier artery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A blocking artery is a supplying blood vessel , the width of which can be greatly restricted or completely closed by the muscles of the arterial wall. It regulates the blood flow to various organs such as the endocrine glands and the erectile tissue of the penis and clitoris . The blocking arteries in the penis only open during sexual arousal (see erection ).

If a vein can be regulated in a similar way, it is called a jugular vein .
