The Röber brothers' special machine construction company (Wutha) was a family company founded in Wutha-Farnroda in 1852 , which specialized early on in the manufacture of agricultural machines and seed cleaning systems. The company existed until 1948 at the headquarters in Wutha-Farnroda. Legal successor in the GDR was the company Petkus Landmaschinenwerk Wutha .

history

The origin of the company is the company of Christian Friedrich Röber , founded in Eichrodt near Eisenach in 1852 as a forge and agricultural machinery workshop , in which hand-operated chopping mills, beet cutters and simple seed processing machines were produced as early as 1866. By 1874, Röber was able to build its own power station on the Erbstrom : the machine tools lined up in the machine room were connected to the waterwheel via a transmission made of flat belts . Now he was able to carry out the first factory expansion, still financed on credit. The two sons Rudolf and Carl completed their technical training in mechanical engineering during this time and gained important specialist knowledge of agricultural mechanical engineering through work abroad in Ipswitch (England) and in Switzerland .

Under the trade name CF Röber Sons , both sons expanded the factory range and successfully advertised at all European agricultural trade fairs, which gave them international recognition. In-house sales representatives were trained using advanced marketing ideas, and model and demonstration devices were developed for advertising events. Thus, the Röber company became one of the most successful specialist companies for seed cleaning technology. Patents have been registered worldwide to protect our own developments. In 1902 a new factory was built again and a 50-horsepower steam engine was installed as the power source for the processing machines. As early as 1880, the company premises were given a siding, which made it easier to dispatch the mostly bulky machine parts. After the First World War , the workforce increased to 280 employees. With the introduction of the electric machine tools, the seed cleaning technology could be improved again. During the Second World War , some of the machines were rededicated for the production of armaments, and forced laborers at the plant had to compensate for the lack of employees.
