description

In 2007 the project “Spherical Triangle” made of red sandstone was started. The three 220–600 million year old stones come from the Hambach opencast mine . The artist Jürgen Ackermann, who has lived in Bergheim for four years and was born in Herne in 1946, has so far been able to work on two of the three stones. The sculpture ensemble bears the title “Medal Human” and is dedicated to the themes “Eroticism and Violence”, “War and Peace” and “Power and Powerlessness”. The front view of the sculpture on the subject of "Eroticism and Violence" shows a human couple in an erotic embrace. On the back, a person, whose figurative head is reminiscent of Picasso's works, utters a scream as a reaction to the violence that happened to him.

The sculpture on the theme of “power and powerlessness” shows the intangible mutability of power and powerlessness, with the chain becoming more intense downwards. The sculpture on the theme of "War and Peace" was completed in spring 2009.
