Sphinx Island is a 3 km long and 1.5 km wide island off the Graham coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located in the entrance to Barilari Bay . A special feature of the island is a bare and cuboid rock summit.

Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer John Rymill discovered and named them after their shape, which is reminiscent of an Egyptian sphinx .
