Music box from Kryštofovo Údolí

The music box of Kryštofovo Údolí is between 2006 and 2008 in a former tower station in Kryštofovo Údolí in the north of the Czech Republic built up clock , which is an interesting conversion of a disused transformer station represents. The clock was put into operation on September 20, 2008.

The outer appearance of the clock is based on the astronomical clock on Prague's Old Town Square , but so far without any astronomical functions. It has a satellite-controlled electronic clockwork and a sundial on the side wall . In addition, it is equipped with 19 movable and two static figures made of limewood: Every hour on the hour between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., the mechanics, driven by an electric motor, starts up and lets the 12 apostles, a night watchman with a dog and scenes from the rural area pass through two shop windows.

The clock is a project of the local private museum operator Martin Chaloupka. The figures were created by the wood carver and graphic artist Václav Plechatý from Liberec , and local artisans also took part in the project. Czech actors, presenters and politicians sponsored the characters. The Liberec region covered the cost of 100,000 Czech crowns - the same amount would have been incurred for the demolition of the former transformer station.
