A Jewish community in Untergimpern , a district of Neckarbischofsheim in the Rhein-Neckar district in northern Baden-Württemberg , already existed in the 17th and 18th centuries. Century. The Jewish community dissolved in 1883/84.

The village of Untergimpern belonged to the Electoral Palatinate until 1803 and there was a Jewish community until it was dissolved in 1883/84. In the absence of sources, one can only assume that it was created in the 17th / 18th centuries. Century. Until the beginning of the 19th century, the Jews of Unter- and Obergimpern shared a community. At the latest when the rabbinical districts in Baden were divided in 1827, the Jewish families had an independent community that was assigned to the district rabbinate in Sinsheim . In 1827 there were 40 Jews in Untergimpern and the highest number of Jewish residents was reached around 1864 with 56 people. After that, the number quickly fell through emigration and emigration. Around 1900 there were no longer any Jews living there.

The dead of the Jewish community Untergimpern were buried in the Jewish cemetery in Waibstadt .

Until the beginning of the 19th century, the Jewish families in Untergimpern visited the prayer room in Obergimpern and had a common prayer leader with the families there . When the prayer hall in Obergimpern was in a dilapidated condition in 1807 and the Jewish community decided to build a new synagogue , a dispute arose over the amount that the Jews from Untergimpern should pay for the new building. Probably for this reason, the Jewish families in Untergimpern set up their own synagogue a few years later, which was used until the end of the 19th century and is still preserved today as a barn (behind the residential building at Landstrasse 11 on Schulstrasse).
