Joachim Hahn (pastor)

Joachim Hahn (* 1954 in Stuttgart ) is a Protestant pastor and author of many publications on the history of the Jews in Southwest Germany.

Life

Joachim Hahn studied theology in Tübingen and Göttingen as a member of the Evangelical Monastery in Tübingen and received his doctorate in 1981 from the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . He became pastor of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg . As such, from 1980 to 1983 he was a repetitionist at the Evangelical Monastery in Tübingen, from 1983 to 1988 director of studies for homiletics at the Evangelical Parish Seminary in Stuttgart and from 1988 to 1994 parish priest in Plochingen . From 1994 to 2005 he worked, among other things, as a lecturer at the Protestant University in Ludwigsburg and at the state church advanced training facility Kloster Denkendorf and as a school priest at grammar schools in Stuttgart. Hahn has been working as a church councilor with various assignments for the Evangelical Upper Church Council in Stuttgart since 2005.

Hahn set his theological priorities in the areas of Christian-Jewish dialogue , biblical exegesis and homiletics. Among other things, he was an employee of the Theological Real Encyclopedia and for many years co-editor of the Calwer Predigthilfen of the Calwer Verlag in Stuttgart. At Calwer Verlag he played a key role in the publication of the 1997 and 2000 commentaries on Genesis and Exodus by Rabbi Benno Jacob .

Inspired by stays in Israel (since 1971), Hahn wrote numerous books and essays on Jewish history and culture in southwest Germany. Hahn is a co-founder of Alemannia Judaica ( working group for research into the history of Jews in southern Germany and neighboring areas ), he publishes extensive articles on Jewish history on the website of this working group (see web links).
