The spill Burger weir is a weir at the Ruhr in Essen-Ruhr .

lock

The old lock from the old days of Ruhr shipping has become inoperable due to mining subsidence and is no longer in use. It was filled in, secured and preserved as a monument. The new, 40 meter long and 6 meter wide lock was built on the right side of the river with a storage height of 2.51 meters with a boat lane and fish passage .

Spiek harbor

The port of Spiek was located in a dead arm on the left side of the Ruhr. The port offered 50 ships protection from ice and flooding. It was because of him that the Faulefott colliery lost coal .

Lock keeper's house

The Spillenburg lock house is located on the Ruhr at Langenberger Straße 306 in Überruhr. It was built around 1780 together with 15 other Ruhr locks, when Friedrich II promoted the Ruhr shipping . The last lock keeper, Franz Arnold Platte, lived in this house until his death in 1951. Extensively renovated by Stadtwerke Essen from November 1990 onwards, a company history exhibition was held here until the beginning of 2007 with the topics of gas and water supply, Essen harbor and social history.

Until the end of 2011, the house and lock were stops on the route of industrial culture , the theme route past and present of the Ruhr .
